Hours and Pay

This is an AmeriCorps Position requiring a one year commitment. January 9, 2006-December 2006. The position may be renewed for the next year(2007) and for year(2008). However an AmeriCorps volunteer may collect tuition stipend for only two years

Living Allowance: $10,600

Tuition Credit: $4576.00 upon completion of year of service

Health Insurance Policy

35 hours per week/ 48 weeks (1700 total hours/year)

 

Job Duties

Mentor recruiter will focus on recruiting  for the volunteer positions which help residents gain competency skills. The volunteers recruited may be work-study student, Ameri-Corps, Senior Corps or  regular volunteers.

 

·          The yearly goal for Mentor Recruiter is to find and bring into the agency 50-75 mentors spread among the following direct service positions: tutor positions, casework aid, child care worker internships, life skill tutors and primarily Personal Coach positions.

·          Develop recruiting strategies with Volunteer Director.

·          Develop and identify Personal Coach positions needed by residents on quarterly basis

·          Develop and identify Independent Life Coaches positions needed by social service department on quarterly basis.

·          Identify and meet with individuals and groups to recruit mentor volunteers.

·          Work with colleges and universities work-study programs, internship programs to fill direct service volunteer positions.

 

Agency Goal

Agency to fill volunteer/internship direct service positions to help residents meet educational competency, employment competency and life skill competence.

 

Agency Support

Agency’s Volunteer Director, Social Service Director, and Residential Director will work with mentor recruiter to develop and identify  mentor needs of the agency. Volunteer Department  will assist in in recruitment. Agency vehicle available for recruiting meetings. Mileage available for use of personal vehicle.

 

Agency Training:

Required to attend agency training and agency planning meetings, AmeriCorps training required

Agency Requirements: All staff and volunteers are required to have negative TB test, Criminal background clearance, Abuse Registry Clearance, and valid driver’s license.

 

Qualifications:

Knowledge of basic computer. Ability to make group presentations, handle Q&A from groups and individuals, dress professional, good phone skills. This position is a unique opportunity for a person to learn about and contribute in the area of human services.
