Number of Positions: 2-4

Volunteer Hours of Service: 2 Hours per day, 1-3 days per week, 9am-4pm Monday-Friday

Job Duties: 

• Provide mathematics training to the boys in order to improve their basic math skills.  Tutoring may be provided for 1 to 4 boys per semester. Provide one-to-one tutoring in basic mathematics and comprehension.

• Assess mathematical skill levels on a periodic basis.

• Issue a monthly progress report to the Education Director.

•  Coordinate a special activity celebrating progress in math advancement levels.

Agency Goal:  To increase the literacy rate among the boys at SPHB.

Agency Training:  Required attendance at the Volunteer Orientation Meeting.

Agency Support:  Provide instructional materials, supplies and any required equipment.

Agency Requirements: All staff & volunteers are required to have negative TB test results, criminal background check and clearance  from the DHS (Department of Human Services) Abuse and Neglect Registry.

Qualifications:  Ability to teach others how to read and write.
