VOLUNTEER: GRANT WRITER

General Information

• Department: Development

• Number of Positions: 1

• Volunteer Hours of Service:  2-4 Hours Per Month, 2-3 months.

Job Duties:

• Meet with Development Director and Executive Director to determine grant proposal needs

• Researching foundations, corporations, institutions and other funding sources for submitting grant proposals for specific grant target.

• Write letters or phone contact to determine required procedures for submitting a grant.

• Prepare a grant following required guidelines of the foundation, corporation or institution giving grant.

• Submit grant to Development Director for final  review. Make any required changes.

• Mail out grant.

Agency Goal:  To generate capital and/ or operation funds through grants. Grants written by Grant Writer Volunteer will be limited to small grants ($1000.00-$10,000) with specific funding need.

Agency Support:  Will work closely with the Marketing & Development Director in carrying out duties and activities.

Agency Training:  Required attendance at the Volunteer Orientation Meeting.

Agency Requirements: All staff & volunteers are required to have negative TB test results.

Qualifications:  Knowledge of the computer and good personal relations skills.  Excellent writing skills.

Additional Information: This position may be combined with Fund-Raising Event Associate and Public Relations Assistant for work-study.
