Internship Hours:

  • 15-20 hours per week

  • Minimum of 3 hours per day, Maximum 6 hours per day, Minimum 3 days per week, Maximum 5 days per week

  • Available Times: 5pm-11pm Monday-Friday, 11am-11pm Saturday, Sunday

  • Work-Study Hourly Rate:$10.00

Job Duties:

  • Plan pastry and deserts for weekly menus with Executive Chef

  • Prepare pastry and deserts for 25-30 people

  • Informal instruction of 1-4 residents in basic cooking. Residents are not required to participate and only residents not on probationary status may participate. This is not a formal classroom instruction with a set curriculum.

Additional Information

  • Interns are not allowed to directly discipline residents

  • Interns are not allowed to engage in restraint unless trained

  • Interns may not give permission to residents to checkout, use of phone or enter secured rooms.

Agency Goal:  To enhance living experience at the agency for residents.  Give selected residents cooking skills in an informal teaching situation.

 

Agency Support:  Will work closely with the Executive Chef and Social Service Director in carrying out duties and activities.

 

Agency Training:  Required attendance at the Volunteer Orientation Meeting.

 

Agency Requirements: All staff & volunteers are required to have TB test results.

 

Qualifications:  Knowledge of the computer and good personal relations skills.  Excellent writing skills a plus.
