Internship Hours

  • 12-24 hours per week

  • Minimum of 3 hours per day, Maximum 6 hours per day, Minimum 3 days per week, Maximum 5 days per week

  • Available Times: 4pm-11pm Monday-Friday, 11am-11pm Saturday, Sunday

  • Work-Study Hourly Rate:$10.00

Job Duties

  • Management of daily life cycle routines: wake-up, meals, bedtime

  • Supervision of residents and agency

  • Monitor daily life activities of residents

  • Assist Child Care Staff in off grounds activities

  • Participate with residents in on-grounds activities

  • Monitor and management of medical needs of residents

  • Life space counseling of residents

  • Assist residents in life skill learning

  • Participate in group counseling activities and team program activities

  • Daily log entries required.

 

Additional Information

  • Interns are not allowed to directly discipline residents

  • Interns are not allowed to engage in restraint unless trained

  • Interns may not give permission to residents to checkout, use of the phone or enter secured rooms.

  • Interns may not engage in off grounds activities without the accompaniment of Child Care Worker.

 

Agency Goal:  Provide a safe secure home-like environment for residents. To make available life space counseling,, activities and learning opportunities for residents

 

Agency Support:  Will work closely with Residential Director , Child Care Worker Supervisor and Child Care Workers  in carrying out duties and activities.

 

Agency Training:  Required attendance at the Volunteer Orientation Meeting.

 

Agency Requirements: All staff & volunteers are required to have TB test results.

 

Qualifications:  Knowledge of the computer and good personal relations skills.  Excellent writing skills a plus.

 

 

  2-8  hours each week can be filled as a  Personal Coach

 

This combination would give the students maximum experience in childcare work
