Social Service: Methods of Treatment

The focus in therapy is not the boy’s behavior but the underlying psychological needs of the boy in care. The methods used at St. Peter's Home for Boys are Milieu Therapy, Group Therapy, and Individual Therapy.


Milieu Therapy St. Peter's Home for Boys policies procedures and methods are designed so that the living environment both physically and emotionally helps in the treatment and healing process of the boys in care


Group Therapy St. Peter's Home for Boys use group therapy as a method of formal therapy. Therapy groups are formed around specific treatment issues when deemed to be appropriate. Group therapy also occurs whenever there is a Team Meeting. See Team Program In Residential

 
Individual Therapy Traditional psycho-therapy methods are used by caseworkers whenever it is appropriate and the resident is capable of participation. All workers who provide direct service to the residents use life space therapy methods, when dealing with boys and specific living and school issues.


Family Services are also extended to the resident's parents and/or other significant family members of the resident including family counseling and visitations of residents.


Out-Patient Therapy St. Peter's Home for Boys will utilize out-patient therapy whenever it is necessary to help individuals in resolving treatment issues.
