 Magical Journey To Tomorrow

Where are the places that lead teenagers to find the paths to their souls ? Where are the places where defeated teens find a passion for living and hope for their future ? What happens to the teens who drop out of school. There are many dropouts prevention programs today . But because of emotional turmoil, family circumstances and educational deficiencies many teens still drop out of school. What do you do with these teenagers? Where are those magical places for such teens? Is there is such a place? This magical world does exist. Every Art Studio is a magical place.

St. Peter's Home for Boys has  been operating a magical place for these high school dropouts since 1996. Through our Literacy Education and Arts Program, we have helped these boys to find their future. The program is designed to help dropouts successfully obtain their G.E.D. and prepare to be either self employed in the art world, or pursue advance training in the arts. The Literacy Education and Arts Program started as an experiment out of desperation and turned into a shining light of hope. It was established in 1996. It began as a stained glass art program combined with a GED program. Through the years the program has experimented with other craft arts and now has added performance arts to the program.

Because it was so successful with St. Peter’s residents, we feel compelled to expand and offer this program to help other teens, boys and girls, who are high school dropouts. We want to help beyond those we now serve in our residential program. This program is available to any boy or girl in other residential placements, foster home placement or Supervised Independent Living placement.

Success is dependent on a student 's ability to read. The failure of students in the past in our GED program has been their inability to read. A students reading abilities are the first focus of our academic program.
